THE FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS
THE FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS

‘The fault is not in our stars but in ourselves'.
Peace be upon you.
Today’s topic of discourse is from Buddha. You may not be interested in the religion Buddhism, but his message of the Noble Truth is very instructive for this day. First there is suffering, second, there is a cause to this suffering, third there is a solution and lastly there are steps to end the suffering.
We can operationalize this concept using different experiences of life. Let’s say for example, that there is failure, there is a cause of this failure, there is a solution never to fail again and here are the step by step processes on how to go about never failing. When we say for example that there is success, there are causes of success, there is how to go about being successful and you can follow the step by step processes to always succeed.
We cause harm to ourselves and we keep looking elsewhere for the problem, persons or institution to blame. We search for scapegoats, hence the advice aforementioned that ‘the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves' becomes very instructive.
Socrates noted that “an unexamined life is not worth living”. Examine your life and know where your weaknesses are and patch up.
Peace be with you.
