THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT AND YOU

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT AND YOU                           CHIBU NDUBUISI    27/03/2017 Peace be to you. In 1972 Edward Lorenz an American Metrologist hypothesised that "Does the flap of a butterfly wing in Brazil set of a tornado in Texas?. He posited that  " A butterfly could flap its wings and set molecules of air in motion, which would move other molecules of air in turn moving more molecules of air eventually capable of starting a hurricane on the other side of the planet. The crux of his ideas is to show how small actions can generate dramatic and complex reactions.  It is equally called "chaos theory"(sensitive dependence on initial conditions). Lance Morrow(1991) in his article 'Evil' tells us of a mother, who dresses her three children for school,  makes breakfast for them and let them watch cartoon.  She smokes some crack cocaine, then with a clothesline strangles two of her children and left the third gasping for life. THE LUCIFER EFFECT AND YOU

THE LUCIFER EFFECT AND YOU.                                  CHIBU NDUBUISI. 20/03/2017 Peace be to you. Lucifer Effect is a concept developed by renowned psychologist Philip Zimbardo to help us understand the point when normal persons crosses the boundry between good and evil to engage in evil actions. He used the Stanford Prison Experiment (1971) a mock prison session used to illustrate prisoners and guards who were normal people before their enlistment but afterwards  shows how their individuality so easily melts away as social environment begins to define the individual. The mere act of assigning labels to people calling some Aryian and Jews is sufficient to elicit pathological behaviour. His Stanford Prison Experiment was later justified by the inhuman actions meted out to prisoners at Abu Gharaib prison facility in Iraq by American military personnel in charge of the facility. He argues that a set of dynamic psychological processes can induce g

WHO IS FREE?

WHO IS FREE ?                                                CHIBU NDUBUISI. 13/03/2017 Peace be with you. " freedom is difficult.  We seek it for ourselves but we deny it to others when their freedom conflicts with ours' "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery" Thomas J. " The goal Isn't more money.  The goal is living life on your terms". Chris Brogan. Where does my freedom start and end? Freedom in the contemporary view, is the ability to do what we like. In the political view, the ability to get what we want. In the ethical sense, the ability to do what we should. Many have used the alibi of creating freedom for all to create anarchy and tyranny. Bob Dylan asked , How many roads must a man walk down  before he is called a man? How many years can some people exist,  before they are allowed to be free? How many ears must one have, before he can hear peoples cry? The answer my

WE HAVE CLEANED UP THE AIR BUT POLLUTED THE SOUL. BY GEORGE CARLIN

This is a master piece.  If you have not read it take the time to read it now.  If you have read it take time to read it again! GEORGE CARLIN                       Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.   A Message by George Carlin: The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduc

PEOPLE FIRST; PROPERTY SECOND

PEOPLE FIRST; PROPERTY SECOND (part two)         CHIBU NDUBUISI 6/03/2017 Peace be to you Jonathan sacks writes that 'it is not what we own that gives us share in eternity, but those to whom we give birth and the effort we make to ensure that they carry our belief and way of life in to the next generation'. Over the years, family composition have been evolving. Today's family can be classified as ' married nuclear, single parents, joint custody, step families,  grand parents led families,  cohabitation families, foster families and group home. What type of orientation are children given in these homes? What mandate have they been trained to  accomplish on earth? It is such mandate that made former president of American  John Kennedy to dream about taking peope to the moon and  admonished his people that they should think of what they can do for their countries and not what their countries should do for them. Such optimism is not feasible in Nigeria were childr

CREATION OF OFFICIAL BEGGING CLASS. BY DELE SOBOWALE

PAYMENT OF N5000 BY FG CREATES AN OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED BEGGING CLASS. Written by Dele Sobowale Posted January 12, 2017 at 4:31 pm “If we were a soft society then we would already have perished. A soft people will vote for those who promised a soft way out, when truth there is none. There is nothing Singapore gets for free, even our water we pay for…” Lee Kuna Yew, in FROM THIRD WORLD TO FIRST, p 53. NOTE: What follows should not in any way be mis-construed as a contradiction with my position that the 2017 Budget offers hope for recovery. I still stand by that. But, there is no perfect budget. One can be generally positive while at the same time questioning some provisions in the document. This is one programme to which I strongly object. Please read on. Some events are simply acts of God. On Saturday December 31, 2016, I went to visit the Publisher of VANGUARD newspaper, Uncle Sam –

I LOVE HIS VIEWS. AN AREA BOY IN MEDIA. DR DELE SOBOWALE

JUST AN AREA BOY IN MEDIA 0807-777-0748 “Presido, what are you? Economist? Philosopher? Journalist?or Activist?”  “ Hit them from where you are; never look for a different position or opportunity”.  Former Senator Javits of New York in  the United States, 1970. Dear reader(s) you have asked a question that has been asked of me several times. Let me start the new year by answering it simply, briefly, and, above all, truthfully. Yes, I read economics and I even hold an MBA because early in life I wanted to join the rat race for wealth. But, even while studying economics, I came across a statement that has shaped my life by one of the world’s greatest economists. Alfred Marshall, 1842-1924, the father of classical economics had pronounced that: “The economist like anyone else must concern himself with the ultimate aims of man”. That prescribed an activist role for a professional economist. But, my earlier excursion into management spanning several years with multi-na
