THE WALING WAILERS: ADIEU RAS KIMONO
                                     C(2018) CHIBU NDUBUISI 11/06/2018 WEEK 24

Under pressure we wail under pressure
Under pressure black people under pressure
                                         Under pressure Nigerians under pressure
                                         Under pressure Africans under pressure
                                            RAS KIMONO

Peace be upon you.
This week’s post is a special tribute to Ras Kimono. The grand father of the Wailing Wailers. The poet extra ordinary. The philosopher musician. We are still wailing not as a result of the effects of the Structural Adjustment Programme which motivated you in to thinking about that hit track “Under Pressure” but about the multiplication, duplication and intensification of the pains and pressure of the citizens of the country Nigeria.

You were a living witness to the decay and degeneracy of generational proportion.
We have been held hostage by Lilliputians masquerading as giants.
We have been torn apart by the pressure of fissiparious tendencies.
We have been fragmented more than ever in our false marriage in Nigeria.
As it is now, their is no end in sight in the continuous transmission of nonentities on a National level.
We have ministers of 1980’s as ministers today. Analog ministers in a digital age.

As you transit to the other side, you will be remembered because posterity has judged you right. Your name has been written in gold more than the scavengers who have held us hostage in this country.
You will wail no more as you transit to the glorious side of eternity.

Peace be upon your soul.
Your music was a blessing to many so shall your memory be.
Under pressure we have continued to wail: when will we wail no more like you?

Adieu Baba Kimono.
