Peace be upon you.

The experience of captivity and slavery in Libya reminds us of Thomas Hobbs state of nature. We are no longer talking about animal poaching but rather we are confronted with the harsh reality of human organs harvesting for business deals.

The recent recognition of Jerusalem by President Donald Trump as the capital of Israel will further intensify the call to global jihad. We are still not through confronting terrorist organizations like ISIS, Boko Haram and their ilk.

In Nigeria, a unit in the Nigeria Police Force called Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), are accused of intimidating citizens, engaging in extra judicial killings and torturing people to death.
We are witnessing the resurgence of kidnapping on a higher scale now; we are not forgetting the University of Maiduguri lectures kidnapped and the continued hostage of some Chibok school girls who are still in captivity. No wonder Nigeria sits comfortably in top rank in the kidnapping index.

We are not forgetting the migration of degradation and dehumanization in the Mediterranean. Ben Lawrence writing in TELL magazine of August 24, 2015 ‘motherhood in tears’ Posited that.“Most of the Nigerians dying in Sahara desert and drowning in the Mediterranean are 50 years plus and below. They are desperate generation gunning for money at all cost helped also by want caused by unemployment and a leadership without rudder. The same generation sweeps the crowd of drug peddlers and cyber fraud clan".

We are not forgetting the threat posed by North Korea about the possibility of nuclear war. The atomic bomb survivors of Japan can testify about the impact of such experience.
On a lighter note, a Governor in Imo State, Nigeria by name Rochas Okorocha not knowing what to do about how to cope with the perilous times decided to appoint a commissioner for “Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment”, to guide us in this perilous times. That was why years back Nigeria was declared the happiest people on the globe.

The poem by Charles Dickens titled “A Tale of Two Cities?" Explains these times
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only"

A verse in the bible, Isaiah 54;15 confirms this perilous times by affirming that “they shall surely gather” (the forces of evil, wickedness, backwardness must gather). Even if they gather, tomorrow i know, will always be better.

Peace be with you
