LOANED
09/10/2017 By Chibu Ndubuisi
Peace be upon you.
A loan is facility you receive to pay back within a given time frame,
either on long-term or short term. Some organization practice loaning of
their staff to other organizations to help them improve on their
capacity, some organization practice intra- organizational loaning which
at times is called reshuffling or transfer. We hear about exchange
programmes, Professors going on sabbatical leave to other institutions.
The crux of loan taking is about increasing, starting up, improving or
contributing to the existing make up of any structure to help add value.
Back In my secondary school days, many hymns appealed to me and one of them is the hymn by Medical Mission Sisters: Pilgrim Song
Man is lonely by birth.
Man is only a pilgrim on earth.
Born to be king, time is but a temporary thing,
Only on loan while on earth.
The hymn above aptly captures our different experiences as pilgrims on loan to earth. As pilgrims we are expected to make some contributions as we navigate life’s path. In making some contributions, we become kings in our areas of specialties and sometimes we equally become terrors but time as a variable of life is always moving and has a way of holding us accountable. Life is only but temporal, so is a loan. It has time frame and in between the actual and expected some transformation are expected. Either positive or negative.
We are all currently on loan to add value to our assigned teams and to advance our personal goals. I am on loan to teach the imperative of peace building. I am on loan to help fight for justice. I am on loan to increase the contributions and help heal a fractured world. I am on loan to give my best wherever I find myself. I am on loan to wipe out peoples tears and give then a new song like the people of Israel found in captivity and there they sang the lords song .
When the wicked
carried us away in captivity
required from us a song
now how shall we sing the lord's song in a strange land
So let the words of our mouth
and the meditations of our hearts
Be acceptable in thy sight
Oh lord.
I will keep singing to the melody of peace.
Peace be with you.
